Born and raised in Los Angeles, Maegan Murphy is an artist and illustrator, recently graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design. She is concerned with internal and external negotiations of identity: the ways in which we consider our gender, race, and sexuality and how those considerations inform  our relationship to the wider world both socially and politically. In her fine art practice she explores these themes through her experiences in public spaces as well as her personal relationships. In her illustration practice she engages with various forms of story telling, pursuing her passion for how the way we tell and frame stories effects our understanding of the world and each other's humanity.
